Unblended Umeshu

This unblended, aged and matured umeshu uses 100% fully-ripened Kishu Nanko plums, celebrated as the highest-class brand in Japan, to infused it the fruity aroma of plums.
The mother water is drawn from a point around 2km in from the entrance to Tondazaka, close to the Ōhechi Kaidō, part of the world heritage Kumano Kodō. This water is well known by the name "Tonda Water”, the renowned water of Kishu Kumano which has won the Monde Selection Gold Award nine years in succession.
The fully ripened plums that have been carefully nurtured to completion are brought into the brewery on the very day they are harvested, inspected for quality and put through processes such as washing before being steeped. A fruity aroma of fully-ripened plums lingers over lingers about the brewery warehouse, enriching the umeshu that delights lovers of the drink. The finishing touches are applied, confirming the flavor at each step, and the brewers await the time the plums quietly sink to the bottom of the vat.
Unlike regular umeshu, no water is added to unblended umeshu. Instead it is bottled just as it is to make an umeshu of 20% alcoholic content.
